Asbestos, a naturally occurring mineral, has been used in the U.S. since the 1800s. Due to its ability to insulate, its fire-resistant nature, and its capacity to work as a strengthening agent (along with its low cost), Asbestos became incredibly popular and was incorporated into thousands of products. Although the military was initially the most prolific user of Asbestos, by the 1970s, it was used in nearly every manufacturing industry and could be found in many consumer products.

The problem with Asbestos stems from the mineral’s propensity to break down into microscopic fibers. When Asbestos is disturbed, these tiny fibers are forced into the air where they can then be inhaled. Once inhaled, these fibers travel far into the lungs and begin to wreak havoc, causing scarring and eventually Mesothelioma. Unfortunately, Mesothelioma has no cure and is almost always fatal.

Although there were warning signs as early as the 1920s (by the 1940s, internal documents from the asbestos industry and its insurers showed they were aware of its risks), Asbestos use was widespread and not limited until the late 1970s. Today, Asbestos still has not been banned in the U.S. and some Asbestos products continue to be imported. Following a wave of lawsuits, a variety of companies created Mesothelioma Trusts valued at $30 Billion. These trusts set aside funds to be paid out to victims of Mesothelioma and their families. The combination of Mesothelioma’s long latency period (often up to 50 years before the disease is discovered) coupled with the historically widespread use of and exposure to Asbestos products throughout the country means that new victims are being diagnosed with Mesothelioma every day.

If you have been diagnosed with Mesothelioma after being exposed to Asbestos, you and your family may be entitled to compensation for your suffering, medical costs, lost wages, and more.

You or a loved one might qualify if:

You have been diagnosed with Mesothelioma

You were exposed to Asbestos within 50 years of receiving the Mesothelioma diagnosis

The Asbestos industry ignored links to Mesothelioma and promoted deadly products for decades, causing immeasurable harm and countless preventable deaths.
